Tree Pit Surfacing

Trees are perhaps more valued in an urban landscape than any other. they can however grow in such a way as to disturb paving or be planted into areas that are heavily trafficked. A solution to the needs of clients for a clean integrated walkable surface and the requirements of the tree, is resin bound gravel ‘tree pit’ surfacing. The system works such that special aggregates are combined with UV stable resins and harden leaving a fully hardened porous pavement.

As the material is layed voids are left in through its profile, these voids will allow water to permeate through and down onto the tree roots. Tree pit surfacing is also virtually maintenance free, unlike tree surrounds and tree pit bases with loose chippings that often collect debris or allow weeds to grow, Where tree roots displace paving slabs or setts, resin bound tree pit can be aplied working around the roots on mature trees without the need to cut tree roots.

Resin and Rock carried out the installation for a high end project for Bowles & Wyre in Hampstead. Their pre commencement investigations and advice in suggesting alternative methods and sub base materials was exemplary and the works were executed quickly and to the high standard associated with this particular garden.
